Site Focus: IESA teams on assignment in Germany
Supporting an industrial project does not stop at the engineering work carried out from our offices. Depending on our customers’ needs, IESA Automation teams travel directly to production sites in France and abroad to support testing, commissioning and start-up phases.
A new example from the field: one of our automation engineers is currently working in Germany, at a plant in the tire industry, for the commissioning of a rubber manufacturing process.
Mobile teams supporting industrial projects worldwide
In industry, projects can take our teams far beyond our French locations.
International mobility is an integral part of some of the assignments carried out by IESA. It allows us to maintain continuity throughout the different stages of a project and to support customers directly on site when the installation enters its operational phase.
This on-site presence is particularly important during commissioning, when our teams need to work closely with:
- installed equipment;
- local site teams;
- the industrial process;
- actual production constraints.
Our automation engineers can therefore work on industrial projects in France and abroad, depending on our customers’ locations and requirements.
Off to Germany for an industrial commissioning project
For this new Site Focus, our team is working at a German industrial site operating in the tire industry.
The assignment involves the commissioning of a rubber manufacturing process, with several technical validation stages:
- I/O testing;
- verification of input and output signals between the PLC and field equipment;
- unit testing of the process;
- progressive validation of the different pieces of equipment and functions.
The installation is based on a Rockwell Automation ControlLogix Safety system.
These operations make it possible to check the behavior of the installation under real operating conditions before moving on to the next stages of industrial start-up.
Commissioning expertise deployed directly on site
Once on site, the challenge is to confront the developments with the equipment actually installed, perform the required tests and, where necessary, adapt the system to field conditions.
This presence on site helps to:
- support the project through to start-up;
- facilitate coordination with the various teams involved;
- validate the actual behavior of the automation system;
- provide technical expertise directly at the heart of the installation.
Beyond technical expertise in automation systems, these assignments also require adaptability, autonomy and the ability to work in a wide range of industrial environments.
